Jeep Wrangler 4xe Hybrid makes a successful green transition

With automakers the world over making the recent shift to electrified vehicles at lightning speed, off-road performance vehicles are facing a major new challenge to keep up. And yet Jeep has taken the plunge without missing a beat. Following an initial breakthrough last year with the launch of the new Wrangler, the Grand Cherokee is now making the switch to the plug-in hybrid version, the 4xe! And Jeep has no intention of slowing down as all its vehicles are expected to become electric by 2025.

Trois Diamants Chrysler, your dealership and auto parts outlet in Mascouche, near Highway 640 and Route 337, just minutes from Terrebonne and Laval, proudly brings you these exciting and innovative new models. Choose from our Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram financing packages, and take advantage of special offers such as lease trade-ins, or even swap out for a Jeep Wrangler 4xe! It’s all possible.

A Brave and Bold New Era for Jeep

While models like the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee have in the past, had a reputation for gas-guzzling, hybridization has definitely been a welcome change. What’s more, this wind of change blows without sacrificing the adventurous nature of these high-performance vehicles, which are still very much off-road champions.

The Jeep Wrangler, for instance, still comes with its 33-inch wheels and can still drive through 30 inches of water! The term “4xe” used to describe the new line of hybrids also reflects this commitment to the idea that they are still 4x4s, but only now powered by electricity. The legendary Rock-Trac 4 × 4 system of the Wrangler is still very much a part of the mix!

Both versions have a 2.0 L engine combined with one or two (Wrangler) electric motors. The engine’s power output is even significantly higher than that of many gasoline models, reaching a peak of 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque! They also still have plenty of towing capacity, 6000 lb for the Grand Cherokee and 3500 lb on the Wrangler.

Both vehicles have three driving modes, hybrid, electric or eSave, allowing you to limit fuel consumption to your liking. The Wrangler’s combined fuel economy reaches a whopping 4.8 L per 100 km! With their reduced fuel consumption, the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe can offer a range of up to 35 or 40 km in 100% electric mode, and 592 or 708 km in total, respectively.

As far as charging is concerned, the Wrangler can charge up to 15 km per hour when plugged into a 240 V outlet; the battery goes from 0 to 100% in just 2.4 hours.

With every ounce of their adventurous character left intact, these two SUVs are proof positive that it’s possible to consume less and still deliver more. Thus, Jeep’s transition bodes well for the future!
