American automaker Jeep plans to offer electrified variants of each of its vehicles by 2025, and it’s already on a roll! Next up is none other than the rugged 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, which is getting an all-new plug-in hybrid version. A Robust and Powerful Vehicle
On the one hand, this new hybridization combines an electric motor with a 2-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This only increases power: the SUV develops an impressive 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque! By comparison, the standard Pentastar V6 develops 263 horsepower, and the powerful Hemi V8, 357 horsepower. For the performance-minded driver, the plug-in hybrid is more than interesting! The 6,000-lb. towing capacity is also remarkable.
The electric motor alone is capable of going 40 km without a drop of gas. The Trailhawk 4xe was put to the test on the Rubicon Trail and managed to conquer it with flying colours in 100% electric mode!
More than just power, the Trailhawk, Summit and Overland versions are equipped with all-new technologies for enhanced off-road performance. With the new Quadra-Lift suspension, the car can be raised by 28.7 cm: this not only allows it to tackle more difficult terrain, but also to navigate water up to 61 cm deep.
Of course, rocky roads and deep snow don’t scare it either, and even more so thanks to the new anti-roll bar uncoupling system that adapts to extreme conditions!
Inside, these new Jeep Cherokees will also feature the new Uconnect 5 infotainment system. This includes wireless integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay apps as well as Alexa Assistant and a Wi-Fi hotspot, among other things!
The top-of-the-line Summit version adds even more advanced technologies: thanks to its cameras, the SUV can recognize different traffic signs in real time. What’s more, it can detect drowsiness at the wheel and advise you to take a break if necessary!
Among the options, note that your rear passengers could benefit from their own 10.1-inch infotainment system featuring Amazon Fire TV.
